Daylighting

Another important energy-related function of window coverings is to diffuse incoming sunlight to soften it and bring it deeper into a room. This function is called “daylighting.” In addition to reducing glare and improving visual comfort, daylighting can often save energy by reducing the need for electrical lighting.

The Quiet Achiever

Duette Shades make the perfect choice when looking at blinds for the bedroom or across your home including media rooms. With the Luxaflex Duette Shades honeycomb technology in addition to their energy efficiency properties with helping to keep your home warm in winter and cooler in summer, the honeycomb technology also helps to reduce everyday sound energy.

Sound energy is absorbed within the cell, dulling exterior noise by up to 55% even with Translucent fabric. Allowing light to enter your home while keeping noise at bay.

What Happens In Summer & Winter?

During winter there's an immediate reduction in radiant heat loss to the cold window glass, and people feel warmer. Here's how it works:

All people and objects give off and receive radiant heat. When significantly more is given off than they get back to cold glass, it can feel like a chilly draft, even if the window is tightly sealed. When people lose enough radiant heat to feel uncomfortable, they will typically turn up the thermostat, consuming energy resources and adding utility costs - but a well-insulating shade can counteract all this.

Similarly in Summer the reverse effect is seen. The pockets of air traps and blocks incoming heat, keeping the home cooler inside.

Reduce Your Heating Costs By Up To 43%*

Did you know most of your home’s energy is lost through windows? Research has revealed that up to 30%^ of total heat loss from your home occurs through uncovered windows. The Luxaflex Duette Architella covered window below on the right demonstrates significantly improved energy savings versus the uncovered window on the left.

* Savings are based on the installation of fully-recessed, reveal-mounted Duette Architella Shades with 20mm blockout fabric in an average home in Sydney, compared with the House Energy Rating standard of Holland Blinds from AccuRate, in that home. These calculations have been modelled by an independent third party. Savings will vary based on the window type and installation. ^ Based on information from NABERS (National Australian Built Environment Rating System). Visit www.nabers.com.au for more information.
